From our friends at The Climate Realty Project.  We support increasing fuel standards.  Historically that has pushed us to improve technology, including EV's and hybrids.  That technology is now allowing us to improve efficiency in homes and commercial buildings as well.

HOW MANY MILES PER GALLON DOES YOUR CAR GET? 

Could you imagine getting 54.5 MPG – or more? This could be the reality for all vehicles in America in the near future. That’s because the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is looking to increase average fleet fuel economy standards that could rise to 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025. That’s real progress. But we can do better – if climate-smart Americans like you speak out today.

The EPA is asking Americans to have their say on the next generation of fuel economy standards for cars beginning in 2022. These critical standards will help Americans:

Save $1.7 trillion in fuel costs by 2025 
Prevent about 6 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions through 2025 
Reduce our dependence on oil by more than 2 million barrels per day in 2025 
Protect our health by reducing smog and climate-harming carbon pollution 
Bring cleaner, more efficient vehicles of all sizes to the market
