Good to hear from Richard Garland at North Kingstown High School

Last year (and you can still see it here on our blog) we filmed a class project Richard inspired in his classroom which saw his students inventing sustainable business models and companies.  We were lucky to help judge those ideas as well.

That lead us on a mission to study how other schools were adapting sustainable changes in education.  Those schools ranged from K-12 and into college.  Take a look at our series, now posting to our TV site, that we shot at the Green School, one of the great charter schools in RI.

Yesterday, we received a great follow up note from Richard and his students.  Take a look.  Don't hesitate to send us your feedback as well:  We will post their video soon on our blog:

"Inspired by what you are doing in terms of the campaign for promoting renewable energy, two students here at NKHS have invested time and resource to help step up awareness of the same, thinking promotion at the high school results in promotion across North Kingstown, over time. I know you have "spot-lighted" communities on the topic.

Rachel Bryer and Fiona Christie are the two students in Mr. Thomas' class (Department Chair, Business/Careers - Digital Development) who have created an outstanding video that I mention above.  The talent expressed is impressive - and we're also impressed with the research performed.  The plan is to show the video on the school's closed circuit network during advisory (home room), therefore, sharing the message with staff and student body.   Given the size of the file, I believe you (and those copied on this email) have recieved a link from Rachel already using Google Disk.
This is the type of talent that results from Mr. Thomas classes.  One of the projects he has students perform for grade is the development of a Public Service Announcement.  He's thinking of adding additional requirements for that project where renewable energy, conservation, recycling, etc. should be the theme."

For now here's the link to the video:

Thanks, Richard, and all the kids at NK High School for the good work you are doing.  Let's not forget Barbara Seely, the lead advocate there.
