As you many know, September 15-21 will be National Drive Electric Week (called National Plug In Day in years past). At last year's Plug In Day, we had EV promotion events in 98 cities with 36,000+ people in attendance, thousands taking test drives, and 150+ media hits.
In 2014, Sierra Club, Plug In America, Electric Auto Association, and many local groups are teaming up to organize EVents in well over 100 cities. This is a great opportunity to educate the public, policymakers, and the media about the many benefits of EVs. It also is a terrific chance to announce EV programs, products, and services -and to show off the sweet plug-in vehicles in the market.
There are lots of ways for people to get involved:
* Visit DriveElectric.org to see if there are events planned in your area. If so, we'd be glad to connect you with the organizers for you to play a role.
* If there are no events in your area, organize your own! We have plenty of resources on the web site and through webinars helping community groups and government agencies organize their Drive Electric Week events. If you need extra inspiration, see this fun short video featuring "Who Killed the Electric Car?" and "Revenge of the Electric Car" film director Chris Paine encouraging you to get involved.
* If your company is interested in taking part, visit this web page for some ideas.
With questions and ideas, contact Melissa Goldberg (melissa.goldberg@sierraclub.org) or Dan Redmond (dredmond@pluginamerica.org).
Thanks so much,
Gina
