Revenue raised from a litter tax on restaurants in Rhode Island that sell takeout food was intended to fund recycling efforts but is instead being used to support general government operations.
A state report issued Friday by a legislative task force recommends using the money to boost recycling to reduce the amount of paper and packing material sent to the state's landfill.
The task force also recommends using money from the state's wholesale beverage tax to fund recycling programs.
Together, the beverage and litter taxes generated $2 million last year. (Associated Press)

  1. Renewable power is very significant for any homeland of the world as the world solely depends on the natural energy. The availability of natural assets such as gas, coal and petroleum are restricted. Today or tomorrow, these assets will come to an end. In order to double-check cut off provide of power, the renewable energy is very important.
